On the 5th Day of Christmas my true love gave to me

Opihr Gin. This gin was designed with an exotic ancient spice route in mind. This gin has a heady spice mix with cardamom rising about the rest. Despite the spicy explosion there is a sweetness from the orange. Iv had it served different ways. Most common is with a slice of grapefruit. However I like it with a sliced red chili and some cardamom pods.

12 Gins to Christmas

On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me …..

Elephant Gin. Distilled in Germany but with some fascinating African ingredients.

It’s different and unexpected. On the nose it’s dry earthy and sweet. On the palate Dry and a long finish. This would go very well in cocktails.

And no it’s not made from Elephants, just like baby oil is not made from babies. Lol

On the fourth day of Christmas

On the 3rd day of Christmas my true love gave to me …..

Edmonds Mistress. A gin I had in Amsterdam, in an amazing bar called 5&33. Sir Edmonds Gin, served with cardamom and lemon. Very refreshing.

The taste of this gin, is very different. On the nose there is definitely vanilla flavoring but that disappears on the palate. It was served with some cardamom, I think it definitely could go a little hotter and I would pair it with a sliced chili. Really enjoyed this.

On the 3rd day of Christmas

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me……

First up is Hendricks Gin. I have always had this served with cucumber but while on holidays this year in Spain it was served with a rose petal as well. I really liked it. I also like it served with elderflower tonic.

How do you enjoy yours?

Had a great Breakfast last week up at the Hill of Tara. There isn’t a lot that needs to be said about this place. It’s always Top Quality. Good food. Fresh and clean with great staff and very good coffee. More places could follow.
