Euro-toques and The Wild Atlantic Way

A few weeks ago The AGM for Euro-toques took place in the Limerick Strand Hotel,  Where Graham Neville was announced new Commissioner General. As my husband is a Euro-toques member I got invited to the fabulous Dinner after.

We arrived at the Hotel and was greeted to some lovely local Limerick produce, included in the hamper was, Cashill’s Cheese, Pandora Bell Confectionery, Old Irish Creamery and O’Brien’s Farmhouse Cheese. What a lovely little surprise.

While the Husband attended the AGM I took some time out and caught up on some work. I took on a new client and there was a lot of “new client” stuff to be organised. I enjoyed a few coffees and admired the view from our executive suite.

At about 7.30pm I went down stairs to meet with my husband and get ready for some serious food. I only fully decided on that morning that I was going to attend and I was a little embarrassed to phone up and speak to the kitchen about my dietary requirements. But they rest assured me that it wasn’t a problem and that they would look after me even at such short notice. I wouldn’t have minded at all if I was just served a main course but I really didn’t expect to be served such amazing food. Prosecco to start and what an amazing room.

Herring to start and it followed with smoked salmon and sorbet for me. Delicious.

My next  Courses were a Tomato soup, Thai flavoured fish wrapped in a banana leaf and followed by Rhubarb and Sorbet. Amazing food. The fish was the highlight, the flavours were so fresh, perfect serving. Sorry my pictures don’t do it justice.

The next day as we drove home we decided to drive along the burden with a few stop offs. the first stop off was at The Cliffs of Moher.

A stop at the Burrens Smoke House was a must. A short video to show us how the Salmon is smoked, followed by some shopping.

Been from Mayo I know what The Wild Atlantic Way has to offer. It’s the best place in the world to be. The Burren is incredible and I cant wait to go back and do a foodie trail there this summer.
