Boqueria

After spending a lovely day at the Shelbourne Hotel for the Spanish Wine and Food Expo we taught it would be a great idea on our way home the next evening to try out Dublin’s newest Tapas Restaurant.

Boqueria is in Stoneybatter and I have read and hear loads about their head chef Matt Fuller and so was excited to visit. Matt has worked in Spanish restaurants for years and here in Ireland worked alongside Kevin Thornton in “Citron” in the Fitzwilliam hotel.

We arrived and ordered a lovely bottle of wine. Albarino from Wines Direct. We had tasted this at the Spanish expo the day before and knew that it would work really well with Tapas.

The waitress was very friendly and non intrusive. Politely explaining how the menu works.  We weren’t  overly hungry so we just decided to order 4 Tapas.

First to arrive was the bread, flavored butter and oil.

The breads were,  Guinness,  Tomato and Date. All very nice. I loved the blue and white pattern plates. Very hip at the moment and screams Spanish.

Next to arrive was Barrel Potatoes,  looked very pretty and tasted equally as nice. The presentation of this was excellent. Lovely Garlic Aioli on top with stripes of salsa running alone side each row of potato.

Our third tapas was Hot smoked Maceral. Apple and Fennel Salad. The dish was amazing. Great flavors. I would order it again.

Our  final Tapas was a Pea Risotto. Again full of flavors.

The restaurant was nice and busy on a Tuesday evening. Simple decoration.
If I had one fault I would fault the music. I would love to hear something Spanish.

The evening was enjoyable. Stoneybatter has got a great new edition.
