May in The Boyne Valley #BVFood

The Boyne Valley Food Series has such a great line of events this year. If you love local food and drinks this is where you need to be. The launch of the Food Series took place a few weeks ago. We had Mr John McKenna from McKenna Guides otherwish known as ‘The godfather of Irish Food’ attend. The photo shoot took place on The Hill of Tara. It contains a number of ancient monuments and, according to tradition, was the seat of the High King of Ireland.

First event is a Sea food Festival in The Bective Kells, 4 days of fresh local seafood been served up my Joan, the Head Chef in the Bective. The event starts this Friday 1st May at 5pm and finishes on Monday evening.

Next we have on the 3rd and 4th May a Blossom walk in the Orchards at Boyne Grove Farm. A walk through the orchard and view the thousands of trees in flower. The great pink and white colors. Guided Tours, Juice and Cider tasting. You will also be able to purchase, Apples, Juice, Cider Vinegar and of course Dan Kellys Cider. Children go free and Aults are €5.00 which will be fully donated to local charities.Its starts at 12pm and finishes at 6pm on both Days

On the 7th May sees the wonderful Tankardstown House have Taste of the Estate. This event will start at 7pm. A welcome drink will be based on what head Chef Rob discovers in his garden. The menu will comprise of 5 courses. This is a ticket only event and can be purchased with Tankardstown House 0419824621. Costs €50.00.

On The 8th May we turn to a wonderful Craft beer and food pairing. Bru brewery will be working with local restaurants and food producers to showcase how well their beer matches with food. Copper and Spices will have a curry on and some sausages infused with the beer. To name a few. Find details below in the poster

On the 12th May you have a 2 hour Cooking Demo with Euro-Toques Chef Nitin Gautam. There will be a Q&A opportunity. A sample of his own blended spices to take home. 16th May McCormack Family Farm have a Walk Talk and Taste. You will be given a guided tour and micro leaf tasting with lunch Al Fresco with their Raw Juice. This event is Free and starts at 11am untill 3pm.

New Grange Gold have Dawn Chorus with Bird Watch Meath followed by producers Artisan Breakfast. The event is free and will be worth the early start at 4am. You will meet on the Rodgers Farm at crew bane Slane. Guided on the farm walk by Frank Ar Moenner of Birdwatch Meath. On your return to the house you will be rewarded with a hearty breakfast made from all Boyne Valley producers.

On 22nd May is An Outdoor Feast of Local Produce at Ryans Bar. There will be a champagne reception starting at 7:30. Followed by a 7 course tasting menu, red and white wine and some light entertainment. An evening not to be missed. To book simply call the bar on 0469021154. This event costs E25.00.
