Soder + Ko

It has been a few weeks since I was dining out in Dublin. I miss the buzz. This was a date night with the Hubby. We both were really looking forward to trying this new place out. My husband and Chef had heard a lot about the chef here. Kwanghi Chan. We had gone to the cinema to watch Fast and Furious 7 and our taste buds were ready for some Spicy food.

We arrived about 8.30pm to a nice and busy atmosphere We were walked through to the end of the building and were seated across from the open kitchen. Fab. Given menus by a very friendly waiter. I got my husband to try the new beer Hop House 13, iv had it before and quite like it. Wine was ordered also.

We both couldn’t keep our eyes of the kitchen. It was so nice to see the lads so busy and seeing them tasting everything before they plate up.

Time to order food, great selection of small plates to share, not a great variety of vegetarian options. We decided to order 5 small plates, 1 side and Kimchi Bun

Salmon was ordered from the “Raw Menu” It looked lovely. It tasted just as good as it looked.Cured,White Radish, Pickled Ginger, Nori. I would have liked it to have a little bit more Pickled flavor.  ( Pictured Below) wpid-20150414_205124.jpg Next came the Kimchi Bun . Spicy Korean Cabbage, Beansprouts, Red Onion, Coriander. It was really nice, a little to sweet for me, but this is how it is served, Next time im in I will ask for it a little more spicy.

wpid-20150414_205038.jpgI will definitely be ordering this again. Prawn Dumplings were next. Prawn Dumplings Steamed in a Bamboo Basket. Great Dish. I love Dumplings, especially when they are steamed. They are great. This is where I would have loved to have seen a veg dumpling.

Up next was SQUID. Tempura,Limes, Basil & Lemongrass Dipping Sauce. This was my only disappointment. I love Squid and I was really looking forward to this. I found it to be over seasoned slightly. Cooked very well and not at all chewy, like you get in some places. I love that they had the extra kick of chilis on them. (Pictured Below)

All dishes were arriving quite quickly, and it was really nice to get to taste so many different flavors at the same time. Sweet Potato, Scallops and Hake  were the last to arrive. Again both very nice dishes. At this stage however I was all fished out and getting very full. I think the portion sizes are big, and probably under priced. I would definitelyhave paid more for them. Top quality fresh food.

Sweet Potato ,Fried, Grated Parmesan, Rosemary Sea Salt ( without the Parmesan for me) Hake Baked, Ginger, Spring Onion, Ponzu, Miso Mayo, Glass Noodles.Great dish with lovely fresh flavors. Scallops, Ceviche,Lime, Coriander, Chili, Fennel.

After we treated ourselves to a cocktail at the bar. The restaurant stops serving food at 10pm but the bar is open late. The restaurant is on George Street. The new and upcoming casual dining area of Dublin. It’s a very fun quirky area with lots of different places to suit everyone’s needs. I’m already looking forward to trying it again.
